Despite being another FromSoftware game, Elden Ring is something completely different. It's larger, longer and much more accessible despite the moments of extreme difficulty and potential progress loss. It's one of the best games you can find on market and we expect it to last there for years to come. The world that Elden Ring was created is The Lands Between and it's not just an achievement for the developer but for the entire concept of open-world games. There are so many open-world games and the concept is getting a little bit old.
However, Elden Ring made it much more diverse and made a massive map that never stops being interesting, even after 100 hours of gaming. There is probably 100 more worth of secret hunting you could extract from a single playthrough. This is the first FromSoftware game where magic is not just an option but makes a large part of the game. The same goes for other options. The only criticism about this game is that sometimes, it can be a little bit obtuse. For example, there are many points in the game where it's literally impossible to loot and finish quests without looking up the guides.
There is also the tricky thing, that accidentally completing a quest 70 hours ago will completely break the chain of the entire zone, requiring another full playthrough to get it right. Also, if you like to play a game for a story, this is not the game for you. It has truly memorable characters and wild cutscenes but not too many and not often. The mythology is great but reading item descriptions and looking for videos is not a great way of storytelling. Overall, it's a pretty interesting game with complete characters.
